Well, we can't all be globe-trotting like Siri, so I find my thoughts lately have been drawn to more mundane topics, such as what to do with my pocket computer, as I prefer to refer to my smartphone.
I mean, it really is. It accesses the internet, all my social media platforms, even my IM programs. It plays games and music and videos. Oh, yeah, and makes phone calls.
(Which, coincidentally, you can now do on your computer. So.)
I've had my current pocket computer for about two years and have generally been happy with it, but apparently it has a memory the size of a goldfish's because I have no room for apps. This is only kind of a problem because I admittedly don't use many apps, but I'm starting to wonder if I would use them more if I could.
I mean, I can only have a bare bones version of Facebook because the phone couldn't hold the full version.
Also, the screen doesn't probably lock, which results in embarrassing butt-typing, such as the time my phone helpfully posted about 27 tweets of gobbitygook, or the time I texted my husband, and I quote, "xxxxxxxxxxyydsjg 3dfhg khj365." (Or, a few days ago, "Ch'ubo," which looks a bit like an insult.)
So I'm considering an upgrade to a newer phone. I went online to look at the options, and is it just me or have they gotten huge? Every phone I look at is over five inches long. Why? Why, phone manufacturers? I don't need a phone that is also a tablet. I have a tablet. I just need a phone that makes phone calls and also allows me to IM friends and occasionally check my message boards (and tells me the weather).
I understand that some people watch videos and play games on theirs, and that a larger screen is useful for that, but what about those of us who don't and would prefer to look like they haven't stuffed a graham cracker in their back pocket?
Do you guys have any recommendations for good pocket computers? I am generally pretty open (but I refuse to give money to Apple).
(I also admit that I kind of covet the Samsung note because I have an unhealthy obsession with devices that have styluses, but my FIL has one and it is massive.)
