Quite some time ago, I wrote about the music my dark muse and I listen to while writing. I'd discovered all of these wonderful, amazing symphonic metal bands and wanted to share them with you. Well, I have more.
Let's start with Krypteria, shall we? They are German, and their lead singer is a Korean woman with an amazing voice. When I first heard them, I actually didn't like them at all. I don't know. But I kept going back to them over and over again, for reasons I still don't quite understand, and little by little, they grew on me. They grew on me so much that I bought everything they had available, including a CD that you can't get here in the States. There's a great deal of symphonic elements in their music, and a lot of it reminds me of a church choir, but up to eleven and epic. Trust me, they are simply amazing.
Then there's Ebony Ark, a Spanish power metal/progressive band. The lead singer is female and she has a very unique voice, which captivated me from the very beginning. They also have one song on the album I purchased that's in Spanish, and it's just beautiful.
Eyes of Eden is a German symphonic metal band who I discovered by accident on Pandora. Looked them up and fell in love. One of their songs, "Star," has become one of my MC's theme songs.
Edguy is German, and they're more metal/progressive. The lead singer, Tobias Sammut, is amazing and their songs are really cool. Sammut also is the lead singer for the band Avantasia, which is epic to the nth degree. They have guest lead singers as well, notably Alice Cooper and Klaus Meine of the Scorpions. Avantasia's music is fantasy-themed and really unique.
Did I mention Within Temptation? They were one of the first symphonic metal bands I discovered along with Nightwish. Beautiful, fantasy-like songs, a female lead singer with a gorgeous voice.
So you have more bands to check out. Are there any I missed? Let's compare notes.
