Spiked Water

A Spork Room Adventure

Kandy sat in front of her computer, her head resting on the back of her hands, her eyes narrowed at her screen.

"Not going well?” asked Juliana.  She settled across from her friend and set her breakfast – several hopefully not-spiked cookies – down on the table.

Understatement of the millennium,” murmured Kandy.  “I didn’t even want romance in this story, but there it is, except now everyone is being idiots.  I’m going to have to set the whole thing – and possibly the third floor – on fire.”

Juliana paused mid-bite, pondering the severity of the arson threat.  Kandy didn’t bother to move, so she finished her cookie before saying, “Have you tried the pink water?”

Kandy finally looked up from her story.  “Jules,” she said very patiently, “You know I am allergic.”

Yes, but Kate has a new formula.  Supposedly more effective.”

The blonde glanced over at the water cooler.  “What the heck, I’m desperate.”  Rising, she filled one of the provided cups full.  She sat back down, frowned at her story, and downed it in one go.

Juliana stared at her.  “Well?”

For a moment, Kandy didn’t move.  Then she looked up into Juliana’s eyes.  “Jules,” she said.  “Have I ever told you how pretty your eyes are?”

Uh,” said Juliana very eloquently.

Kandy rose, leaning across the table.  “Jules, my love, my darling, I cannot contain myself anymore.  I love you, I need you.”

I just remembered something I must do anywhere that is not here,” replied Juliana, abandoning her cookies.

She hadn’t made it very far before a pair of arms encircled her waist.

Let us run away together, my darling!  I know a little island where we can be together forever!”

At the moment, the door swung open and Ian walked in.  He stopped.  He stared.  “OMGWTFBBQ,” he said.

Help me!”  Juliana tried to pull Kandy off of her.  The other girl had started purring.  She made a note to tell Kate that the new formula didn’t work quite like she had expected it to.  “Get the pink water antidote!”

There’s an antidote?” asked Ian.  “Why didn’t anyone give it to me before I let all those plotbunnies loose through the Door?”

Let us think about who we hang out with.  These are horrible people who think that plot animals running rampant are funny.”  Juliana suspected Kandy was starting to cut off her breath.  She was going to die of love, alas.

Unfortunately true,” replied Ian.  “Where is it?”

Under the plot bunny cage,” she gasped out.  Now there was nuzzling as well.  This was the weirdest day of her life.

Ian dutifully went and retrieved the bottle, and between the two of them, they managed to incapacitate Kandy enough to get some of it down her throat (and quite a bit of it elsewhere).

Kandy blinked a few times.  “I don’t think this is working, Jules,” she said quite calmly.

Well,” said Juliana.  “Just keep at it.”

Perhaps if I had some more?” Kandy said, eyeing the cooler.

I think it’ll just make you sick to the stomach,” said Ian.

Kandy blinked at him.  “When did you get here?”

At exactly the wrong time,” he replied.  “Now, if you excuse me, I must go wash my eyes out with bleach.”  With that, he disappeared upstairs.

I’m not sure that’s healthy,” Kandy whispered to Juliana.

Yes.  Well.  No more pink water.”  Juliana steered Kandy back to her seat and deposited her in front of the computer.  “I’m sure you’ll figure it out.” With that, she abandoned Kandy to her story and went to get some more cookies.
